The Adlerian Society of Arizona promotes the principles of Adlerian Psychology (also called Individual Psychology) based on the work of Alfred Adler.

ASA sponsors two Workshops per year, and also holds informal "Educational Forums" where we get together to learn and grow as Counselors, Psychologist, Educators and Parents.

UPCOMING EVENTS :

SPRING 2010 WORKSHOP:

“Adlerian Approaches to Understanding and Dealing with Adult's Mistaken Goals and Notions in Adult/Child Relationships”

PRESENTER: James Robert Bitter, Ed.D.

Saturday, April 24, 2010
9 am - 4:30 pm

Pima Community College West Campus,
2202 W. Anklam Rd., approximately 2 miles west of I-10 from the St. Mary’s Rd

Participants will be introduced to the interactive goals that lock children and parents into repetitive patterns in which both parents and children, teachers and students, childcare providers and the children they serve find it hard to stop.

Focusing on an understanding of the goals and what can be done to step back from negative patterns, Jim will demonstrate with both individual adults and families how an understanding of mistaken goals can lead to productive change.  In this interactive workshop, we will explore the ways in which mistaken goals develop, and how a lack of awareness almost always leads to ineffective automatic responses.  Parent or Teacher consultation will be at the heart of the day’s process, as well as discussion about situations and cases that participants are currently experiencing
